Too short

This book says that ancient Egyptian culture was influenced by its neighbours [and sometime invaders] to the west. It can be evidenced by rock figures which seem to display attributes similar or identical to those displayed by Egyptian gods, which pre-date Egyptian representations and by classical writings showing similarities between cult figures in Egypt and the rest of North Africa [though surely this could equally be evidence of influence passing in the other direction]. This should not come as any great surprise. For me, the interest lies in the means of passing the influence and I would have welcomed a longer work giving more detail regarding the origins and interactions of the peoples of the Nile valley and the areas to the west with reference to the known and recorded history of Egypt.
The work is interesting, but is merely an appetiser provoking the need for further reading if you wish to know more about the gods of Egypt.

A Good Book

An interesting book that deals with the Egyptian gods that were initially worshipped by their neighbours
to the West (the Libyans, as they were called back then).
Herodotus wrote that the Ancient Greeks "absorbed" several gods from North Africa (the most famous being Poseidon)
but I did not know that the Ancient Egyptians were also influenced by North African beliefs.
A good reading.

Great series on the forgotten prehistory of the African continent - or not so forgotten as simply overlooked in favour of European prehistory. The only thing that lets it down is the spelling and grammar mistakes
