Enjoyable Graphic Novel

This is the second graphic novel adapatation of this story I've read (and know of 2 other), in addition to the paranormal/parodies) and definitely one of the better. The artwork is clean and easy to follow and the story a decent adapt from the novel.

As with any graphic novel from a literary source, you will lose quite a bit in the intricacies of the story. A very good artist gains it back with expressions and settings for the artwork. Here, I do still feel a lot was lost, hence the 4 rather than 5 star review. A lot of the art is just posing - really lacking body expression and facial emotion. The drawing is also very simplistic - no elaborate hairstyles and the fashions of the day are just simple empire gowns without texture or patterns. It felt a bit anachronistic as a result and I missed the Regency period feel.

But in all, it's a good adaptation, if a bit sterile.

God spoke through prophets in Old Testament, and He speaks through the Son and the Church in New Testament. He is a speaking God, because He wants to build His chosen ones together by His living words. This book unveiled a very basic principle of supplying life to each other by speaking for God: a believer should speak for God according to what he is, but not according to what he knows. His regenerated being is his ministry, and his speaking according to this divine new being is his word ministry for the sake of life supply in the Church. What he knows transfers knowledge, which results in puffing up. What he is (regenerated new being) transfers life, which brings about life supply and building up. The book is classic and a must for the believer who wants to speak for God according to God's heart's desire but not according to his own personal preference.

Watchman Nee is a gift to the Body as this book illustrates to any reader who is seeking to know how to minister God's Word. Brother Nee was a living sacrifice during his lifetime,and because of his sufferings, his experiences, and his intimate relationship with the Lord, the Lord passed on many revelations to him which he in turn shared with the Body through his writings...not just anyone can open up the Bible and read God's Word, then speak forth Christ to someone...he shows in this book what the qualifications are to put yourself in a position to truly "minister" the Word of God.

Among the Best of Nee's Works

I read this first about 25 years ago. Nee's insight into what happens inside the heart of a teacher was astounding. It was like he could read my mind and feel my emotions.

Now I'm reading it again, and I believe the emphasis on the Word of God being made flesh would transform the church. Nee makes it clear that if you care to be used by God, then you must be dealt with and broken, because God doesn't intend to use you as a tape recorder.

Excellent, excellent book if you care to be used by the Spirit of God.

You'd better be spiritual, though. This is not a book about Bible interpretation. This book will always arouse a lot of mocking and scoffing, and it will be misused by arrogant and unsubmitted rebels. That's the nature of spiritual things, but if you're hungry to be close to God, humble before God, and building others with your teaching rather than teaching for self-glorification, then this is THE book for you, first after the Bible.

Nina Baym (Ph.D. Harvard) is Swanlund Endowed Chair and Center for Advanced Study Professor Emerita of English and Jubilee Professor of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She is the author of The Shape of Hawthorne s Career; Woman s Fiction: A Guide to Novels by and About Women in America, 1820 1870; Novels, Readers, and Reviewers: Responses to Fiction in Antebellum America; American Women Writers and the Work of History, 1790 1860; American Women of Letters and the Nineteenth-Century Sciences and most recently, Women Writers of the American West, 1833 1927. Some of her essays are collected in Feminism and American Literary History; she has also edited and introduced many reissues of work by earlier American women writers, from Judith Sargent Murray through Kate Chopin. In 2000 she received the MLA s Hubbell Medal for lifetime achievement in American literary studies.

Great sheet music.

Inception's music is so incredible. I'm very happy with this score, and again, as I said on my review for the Dark Knight sheet music book, I really wish they would release a complete book of the sheet music for the entire score. However, this is still a great collection of sheet music, with Time being particularly well arranged.

As a commercial songwriter (advertising, music scoring for industry, and music niche markets), as well as a (non-commercial) sheet music arranger for over 25 years I'd like to put in my 2� in regard to some of the arrangements in this book ...

The most familiar of the small selection in this book is surely, "Time", and "Dream is Collapsing" ... Harmonically, they're very good, but not perfect. For example, in "Time", sorely lacking is the repetitive guitar riff (that could easily have been mixed in) ... also, I'm a bit perplexed by some of the lower register parts (i.e. Left Hand) .. that seem a bit "arranged" rather than transcribed.

Admittedly, this book does not specify "transcriptions", so perhaps Hal Leonard publishing gives their arrangers a bit of creative license. Look, there's time to be truly creative ... creating new songs, new thematic material, new adaptations ... BUT, when most people (myself included) buy song books, they are hoping what they get to play is an accurate representation of what's been recorded. If Hal Leonard is striving for accuracy, in many books (including this one), I feel that they're missing the mark. Not by a lot, but MANY of would appreciate accurate transcriptions, akin to what they were publishing in the 90's (Billy Joel, Elton John, Carol King, various compilation books with NOTE FOR NOTE accuracy) ... one for item, the price is a bit steep for the limited quantity of material provided.

Here's a message to Hal Leonard publishing (if you read these reviews) ... if you are indeed trying to publish music that is harmonically and rhythmically accurate, you might consider CONTRACTING WITH ME. Quite honestly, it seems like the your current staff or freelance arrangers are providing material that (in my experienced opinion) should be more accurate. I've been self publishing (not for sale, just for my own students) for nearly 20 years. All who've played and heard my many arrangements and transcriptions, in many genres, can attest to the accuracy ... I do welcome replies, and opportunities to illustrate my large volume of work ... Hasan Cemal a former leftist and now a famous journalist,columnist has given his confessions and how he has elvoved into his current political thoughts. The style is different in itself that there is a middle age Hasan and a young Hasan.They are at constant debate. Just when you are convinced for one thought the old or the young jumps im breaking it apart. Faboulous!
